Does anyone know of a good (or not so) repertoire book on the Spanish with 5.d3 vs the main line and 4.d3 vs the Berlin? Is there such a thing on the market? I've already got Andrew Martin's DVD The ABC of the Ruy Lopez, but still I'd like to have something to read on the subject, something that would be a bit more thorough, etc.
I've 'played around with' with the KG for quite awhile (as in, I make use of it ás my one ánd just reaction against 1.e5) but honestly, it seems much much better for blitz thán as a permanent choice OTB. The Romance language is nice, but seems quite theory intense in terms of getting to understand several mainline variants, as opposed to only sidelines of a individual variance. (In various other phrases, I'd like even more 'selection' than my challenger when it arrives to choices that take place in the starting.)

At this stage, I'd like to think about switching aside from the king's gambit as my primary opening against 1.e5 but I've no concept what to change to. Correct me if I'michael incorrect, but my choices are usually the Spanish, Italian language, Scotch, and Thrée/Four Knights. Honestly, I've as well little understanding of each to determine them for what they are usually, much much less the major variants of each. I'm searching for something that emphasizes middlegame capability as opposed to endgame understanding (the Sicilian might become similar to the initial, while the Caró-Kann or Spanish language Exchange would be similar to the second).
Therefore. suggestions?
